The semi-finals of pennant were held on Saturday where fourth-placed Monbulk 2 played against top side Narre Warren at their home green.
Alan Hamilton’s rink was level after four ends but then lost the next 4 ends to trail by 10 shots. They reduced the deficit to 5 shots with two ends to play, but went down by 8 shots, 15 to 23. Eric Furby played some great bowls early in the game to take his side out to a 5 shot lead after 3 ends. They then lost the next 5 ends to trail by 6 shots. They reduced the margin to 4 shots, but when they dropped 6 shots on the fourteenth end the game was slipping away and they went down by 9 shots, 15 to 24.
Graeme Goller’s rink started well and after 9 ends led by 9 shots. They then hit a brick wall and lost 6 ends in a row to trail by 1 shot. They took the lead back on the next end, but lost 4 of the last 5 ends to lose by 10 shots, 15 to 25.
Jim Anderson’s rink lost 4 shots on the first end and never really got into the game-winning only 6 ends to go down by 22 shots, 8 to 30.
Monbulk lost the overall by 49 shots, 53 to 102 and they now need to look forward to next season.
