Knox City Council will be offering several free events to celebrate The United Nation’s International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on 21 March and Cultural Diversity Week from Saturday 19 March until Sunday 27 March.
Celebrated each year in March, Cultural Diversity Week acknowledges what makes each of us special. This year, Knox City Council is encouraging the community to Connect through Culture.
“I feel incredibly proud to work within a community that recognizes and celebrates the power of its diversity and multiculturalism,“ Cr Sorina Grasso said.
“Having lived experience as an Australian of culturally diverse background, I understand the power of education and the importance of connecting through culture.”
With over 30 per cent of Knox residents born overseas, the community is home to people from over 130 different countries.
Some of the events planned include cooking classes, family story time, faith conversations and cultural dance classes.
