MOUNT Evelyn Christian School is located in beautiful surroundings off York Road in Mount Evelyn.
The school has about 550 students with an average class size of 20.
The school has recently completed a number of building and refurbishment projects and looks forward to the completion of a new gymnasium, including a rock climbing wall, at the end of this year.
“Our aim is to provide parent-governed, Christ-centred schooling with learning experiences that challenge each student to actively live for God in His world,” principal Martin Hanscamp said. “We partner with parents in the nurture of their children at a price affordable to those who are committed.”
Mr Hanscamp said partnership with parents was a paramount value for the school.
“So we always endeavour to create a genuine connection between home and school,” he said. “We believe our role is to help each student to discover the meaning and structure of the world we live in.”
He said this often involved out-of-classroom learning experiences.
“We also want students to move beyond discovery to a real and well thought out response to the world,” he said. “In other words, we want our students lives equipped to make a difference.”
At each stage from Prep to Year 12 the school fosters an attitude of self responsibility for learning.
Because the curriculum is developed within the school, MECS is able to create a vibrant learning environment that fosters a creative all-of-life curriculum.
“We value small class sizes and ensure that teachers are the primary source of pastoral care for students,” Mr Hanscamp said.
