FOR Your Paws Only Pet Supplies sprung from a joke but is wowing customers with a great range and personalised service.
Owner Simone Greaves’ husband received an email from a friend featuring the store and the message ‘want to buy a pet shop? haha’.
“She sent it as a joke. We thought it was a great idea and so we purchased the business at the end of January this year,” she said.
The store had been a pet shop for many years.
“The last few years it had been badly run down, but when I saw the shop I could see the potential,” Ms Greaves said.
“From what my customers tell me it has never looked so good.
“I still want to do so much more so I am looking forward to my customers seeing the changes as our little pet shop continues to grow and thrive.”
Ms Greaves stocks a large range to suit all types of animals including premium dry foods, toys, collars, leads, grooming, flea and worming products, bowls, beds, dog treats, pet hay, small animal food, bird seed and fish food.
“I also carry a small selection of live animals such as birds, cold water fish, rabbits, guinea pigs and hermit crabs,” she said.
Ms Greaves will open a grooming salon within the store at the end of July.
The store’s most unique features is a fresh meat licence.
“This allows me to sell fresh meat by the kilo bagged in the store, so my customers know that when they buy their meat from me it is fresh,” Ms Greaves said.
She started in the pet industry nine years ago and has worked and managed pet shops ever since.
“I have acquired extensive knowledge over the years and I am happy to share this by assisting my customers with all their pet needs,” she said.
“My knowledge not only covers dogs and cats but birds and fish, small animals and reptiles as well.”
“Most of what I have learnt over the years comes from practical experience as my husband and I are avid pet lovers.”
The pair has three dogs, three cats, 60 parrots, bearded dragons and tropical fish.
“Being a small store gives me the advantage of not having to employ any staff, so the person the customer deals with is the owner,” she said.
“My customers know they are receiving the best personalised service, something you can’t get in very many places today.
“My main goal is to make my customers not only feel important but to know they are important, to give them the service they deserve and assistance they require.”

The store is open 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 2pm Saturdays.
