REV-HEADS can take a spin around one of the world’s top race tracks this school holidays, with an all new hot lap program off and racing at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.
The new experience sees participants strapped into a five-point harness in a race prepared vehicle to give them the ‘real’ race experience.
A GT3 Porsche is the current car in use. Featuring a whopping 390 horse power engine, it’s able to reach 100km/h in 3.8 seconds.
“With no room for more than one passenger, it’s just you alongside an experienced race driver, the car and the track,” business development manager Peter Mitchell said.
“This is an exciting evolution for the hot lap program.
“It really takes the experience to the next level and gives you the real race feel.” Mr Mitchell said Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit had entirely overhauled the way they deliver their experience.
“We believe it is a truly superior package that will surpass expectations,” he said.
The new program kicked off on 12 June and was an instant success with rave reviews.
Steven Bird and Craig Olarenshaw were the first two punters to put the new program to the test.
With their families watching on, the guys were treated to three hot laps of the world renowned Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit under race pace.
“It was a fantastic experience to fly around the race track in a professional race car. I would recommend this to anyone who loves an adrenaline rush,” Mr Olarenshaw said. The program is only available on pre-scheduled dates and bookings are essential.
Readers can visit www.phillipislandcircuit.com.au or call 5952 9400 for available dates.
The fun continues on the go kart track, which is a scale replica of the main Grand Prix Circuit.
The track continues to receive the thumbs up for families, corporate groups and even V8 Supercar aces like Rick Kelly, Greg Murphy and Nathan Pretty.
“The track’s awesome and these karts are the go,” Kelly said.
Murphy said: “What a ride – I’ll definitely be back.”
There are plenty of other activities at the circuit to keep everyone entertained and with the school holidays fast approaching it’s one of the ‘must do’ attractions on the island.
