ROADS Minister Tim Pallas is to be asked in Parliament to pay back a parking fine issued to a Mount Evelyn woman.
Mary Wiking was fined $322 to retrieve her car after it was towed from Victoria Parade in Richmond.
Now she is warning others to watch out when parking in the city after her car was towed from what she says was an incorrectly-signed clearway.
Ms Wiking said signs indicated the area was a clearway zone between 4pm and 7pm, but her car was towed about 3pm.
Evelyn MP Christine Fyffe will raise the issue in Parliament this week and will ask Roads Minister Tim Pallas to reimburse Ms Wiking.
She said the Government changed clearway times but had not yet changed signs.
“It’s a fiasco,” she said.
“It beggars belief that they started fining people before changing the signs.”
“How can people be expected to do the right thing when they are being given conflicting information about parking times by the Government?”
