TWO Emerald teenagers have been praised for their selfless act of kindness after returning a Beaconsfield grandmother’s purse.
Denise Parsons was in Emerald last week with her two great grandchildren when she left her purse on a park bench.
But all was not lost, as two teenagers who found the purse set about finding the owner.
Mrs Parsons said she didn’t have the names of the two young men but felt that their good deed deserved to be recognised.
Mrs Parson’s said she had brought fish and chips in Kilvington Drive before crossing the road to Puffing Billy Place Park. She said she had her purse in her hand and put it on a park bench and put her hand bag on the ground beside her.
Mrs Parsons said she didn’t know why she didn’t put her purse back in her hand bag, but after eating the fish and chips, she returned to Beaconsfield with her grandchildren, leaving the purse behind.
“I wouldn’t have gone to the shops that day and wouldn’t have realised I didn’t have my purse,” she said.
Mrs Parsons said the two young men between 16 and 17 years old came across her purse and took it to Emerald police station.
But she said there was no one at the station but the two men found her identification card, which had her husband’s mobile number on it.
The young men then waited in the park while Mrs Parsons drove back to Emerald to collect the purse.
“It was a really sweet thing for them to do and they must have taken three-quarters of an hour trying to find the owner of the purse,” she said.
Mrs Parsons said she only had $10 in her purse which she gave to the two men, which they declined to take at first.
