IT WILL be a lot easier to ditch hard waste under an innovative strategy launched by the Casey Council.
As of 1 October, households will be able to pre-book up to two hard waste collections a year.
The changes in the hard waste collection are part of a new collection contract with Transpacific Cleanaway.
Casey mayor Shar Balmes said the council aimed to make the municipality one of the most sustainable in Victoria.
“By re-evaluating existing processes and implementing innovative new waste management strategies the City of Casey is taking steps in the right direction regarding the targets set by the State’s Towards Zero Waste policies,” Cr Balmes said.
Casey’s waste management manager Michael Jansen agreed.
“The City of Casey is increasingly focused on recycling and sending less waste to landfill,” he said.
“From the hard waste collection e-waste, tyres, mattresses, metals and garden materials will all be recycled’.
From 1 October call 9729 9100 to book a hard waste collection, prior to putting out your hard waste.
