A BERWICK teen hopes to break into the modelling industry, after entering a Miss Teen Australia 2011 competition.
Kesia Varga, 17, is in the running for the coveted title, and she urged Casey residents to help make her dream a reality.
The top 10 contestants will be selected by either the judges or the amount of text message votes they receive.
They will then go on to compete for the top prize at a supermodel pageant in Fiji from 4 October to 7 October.
The Year 11 Timbarra College student said she first learned about the competition a few years ago, but could not enter because she was too young.
Kesia said despite having ambitions to one day become a nurse, she thought she would try her hand at modelling.
“It’s about girls getting out there and seeing what they can do. I think it is a great opportunity for me to get my name out there, and see if I can get any more modelling work,” Kesia said.
“It might also help me get out there and do more for the community.”
Kesia said she would have an interview with the judges this Saturday, where she will be critiqued in a number of categories including evening gown, swimsuit and photos.
“I am very nervous,” she said.
“But I have a lot of support from my family and friends- they have supported all my choices in life.”
Kesia said she was currently in the top 25 out of more than 100 contestants based on votes by text, but hoped to receive more votes from Casey residents.
Anyone wanting to vote for Kesia can do so by texting ‘teen 119; to 1990 1090. Voting closes on 3 September. For more information, visit www.missteenaustralia.com.au.
