KEEN gardeners are invited to a fun and interactive workshop at the Narre Warren North Uniting Church this month.
The Narre Warren North Uniting Church, in conjunction with the Casey Permaculture Group and with the assistance of Abbie Lane from the City of Casey, will host the event on 17 September.
The aim is to promote organic gardening, support the establishment of a gardening club and gauge local interest in establishing a community garden.
Attendees will be able to discuss and learn new tips and tricks about composting, worm farms, backyard poultry and no dig garden beds.
Guests will have a chance to win door prizes and children will be able to make a scarecrow, which will be used in the proposed community garden.
Trevor Ratcliff from the Narre Warren North Uniting Church said having a vegetable plot helped families to eat healthy while being thrifty, reduced the environmental impact of transporting and warehousing food, made meals more interesting and was also a great activity for the family.
The event will be held at 2pm on 17 September at the Narre Warren North Uniting Church on the corner of Tom Jones Avenue and Main Street, Narre Warren North.
