Skull fractured in road rage

By Lia Bichel
A ROAD rage incident left a Berwick man nursing a fractured skull in hospital.
About 12.30am on 24 August, a 19-year-old Berwick man left a friend’s home in Pentland Drive, Narre Warren.
Police said the man overtook a red Holden ute on Princes Highway. The ute caught up and tailgated him before both cars stopped on Williams Street, Berwick.
“The victim stopped his car, got out and approached the driver (of the ute),” Detective Senior Constable Reuben McAllister from the Narre Warren Crime Investigation Unit said.
“The driver and the passenger of the ute got out, assaulted the victim with what appears to be an unknown instrument and knocked him unconscious.”
Police said the man woke up with blood coming from his ears, drove home, and his mother drove him to Casey Hospital, where he spent three nights recovering.
“Police are concerned with the level of violence in relation to this matter,” Det Sen Const McAllister said.
“We are asking that any witnesses or people with information contact the police.”
The driver of the red ute was described as being a Caucasian man, six foot with a thin build. He had long blond hair and was wearing a backwards baseball cap.
The passenger of his car was described as being Caucasian, shorter than the driver with short dark hair. Both men are believed to be aged in their early 20s.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Senior Constable Reuben McAllister on 9705 3111 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
