Bombers end up on the back foot

By Peter Hamilton
AFTER a good A Grade display in which the Bombers restricted top-placed Beaconsfield to 206, Emerald got off to a poor start in the chase.
The Bombers were on the back foot with the score 3/32 off 28 overs.
Quenten Lucas and Wes Wright put the game back in the balance with a 67-run stand before Wright was out for 28.
With the new Chandler Medallist looking set and with good support from Jay Kleinsmit the Bombers were a chance, but both batsmen fell within a couple of overs.
Lucas was a star again for the Bombers as he batted for 60 overs to compile 82.
From there the Bombers were never a chance, but David Alenson looked good down the order making 16 not out as Emerald was bowled out for 164.

Needing to win to make the finals the Bombers tried to defend 169.
With Beaconsfield resuming at 2/25 the Bombers got off to a good start with Andrew Rolfs and Michael Borkowski bowling tightly.

With the game seemingly slipping away from the Bombers two quick wickets saw the score to 7/150, but it wasn’t to be as Beaconsfield passed the total with 10 overs to spare.
Rolfs bowled a tireless 29 overs for 5/36, including oen wicket where the ball was struck towards Mick Van Leeuan in gully at a great pace, before it hit him on the head then ricocheted to cover where Keiron Thoms pulled off a great one-handed catch.
