New window to world

PEOPLE with intellectual disabilities at Melba Support Services will benefit from a recent donation of two iPads.
Donated by the Chirnside Park Commonwealth Bank as part of its centenary celebrations, the handy tool will allow those who use non-verbal cues to communicate to show their needs and wants through the use of applications.
Melba CEO Glenn Foard said the iPads were an important addition to their communication resources and aids and would benefit people in many different ways.
“The iPads and new software applications assist people to communicate, exercise choice and make decisions about their daily lives,”
Amanda, one of the people supported by Melba, was the first to use one of the new iPads, which will allow her to organise her diary, record her daily activities and capture photos and digital stories to share with others.
Melba Support Services is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Anyone who wishes to be part of the celebrations can contact Lisa Glassborow on 0402 302 477.
