Emerald’s take on Shakespeare

Much Ado About Nothing is a wild romp through the Italian countryside and one of Shakespeare’s zanier comedies.

It is currently being put on by a group of talented performers at Gemco Players Community Theatre.

It involves multiple romances, contrived misunderstandings, bumbling police and a blackhearted villain.

There is live choral and instrumental music as well as a rollercoaster of emotions.

Fan favourites so far have been Hayden Splitt as Benedick for his evolution from cheerful insouciance to eager puppy love and Thilan Ahangama as Borachio for the physical comedy

embodied in his portrayal of the drunken henchman.

This amazing cast and crew have scaled many obstacles to bring the production to you; boiling days and encroaching spiders in park rehearsals, loss of the park as a performance space and the usual round of illnesses.

This resilient show is definitely worth a watch!

Remaining performances are March 17 and 18 at 7.30pm and March 19 at 3pm at The Gem in Emerald.
