Police hot on the trail

EMERALD Police are fed up with young people who are ‘blatantly ignoring the law’ by riding unregistered motorbikes without a licence.
Police are warning youths that if they are caught doing the wrong thing they will be fined.
Senior Constable Frank Bailey said although police have had some success, it was still a major problem in the hills.
He said the police are doing their best to catch offenders but young people are still blatantly ignoring the law.
In January, the Mail reported that people in Cockatoo were fed up with the number of unregistered and unlicensed trail bike riders wreaking havoc around the hills.
Snr Const Bailey said anyone caught riding an unregistered bike, unlicensed and without a helmet faced fines totalling up to $1000.
Sen Const Bailey said anyone over the age of 12 caught doing the wrong thing would be fined.
He has urged anyone who witnesses someone doing the wrong thing to call triple zero.
