BOTH of Upwey-Tecoma’s finals aspirants have been set sizeable run chases in Round 9 of FTGDCA junior action.
The U15s have Jake Lynch to thank for limiting Eildon Park to 5/220 from their 50 overs. Lynch was simply outstanding, returning figures of 1/10 from 7 overs, including 3 maidens.
U13 Black enjoyed a similar return from Matthew Chambers in Mulgrave’s tally of 2/228. Chambers bowled 6 overs for just 11 runs and then took over the wicket-keeping duties.
In other games, the U13/1 side also have a big run chase on their hands this Saturday after bowling out Johnson Park for 257. Andrew Jordan performed best with 2/14 from 6 overs while Taylor Jones took four catches in the innings.
U13 Gold bounced back well with the bat amassing 164 against Eildon Park Wildcats. Steve Atherton reached 30 not out and compulsory retirement for the first time and received good support from Jackson Barnard with 19.
The U17s continued their fine run with a solid 190 against Rowville. Sam Waters (48), Ben Wood (31), Daniel Waters (31) and Joel Noon (28) all made sure that they gave their bowlers plenty of runs to bowl with this week as they seek back-to-back victories.
