Men prevail in battle of sexes

MIKE Leach’s team was the best as 15 men and 15 women fought for supremacy in Monbulk Bowling Club’s inaugural Battle of the Sexes.
Val Newman’s team provided the best competition from the ladies.
Results: Men 7 wins, ladies 3.
In Round 10 of the Saturday Pennant, Team 1 (Division 2) remains fourth on the ladder after playing at home against Eastwood Golf.
Monbulk won 16 points (101 shots) to Eastwood Golf’s 2 points (81 shots).
Ted Tratt’s up by 15, (best rink of the day), Rob Wilson down 13, Andrew Bell up 13, and Max Cobb up 5.
Team 2 (Division 4) played away against Berwick 5.
In a close game, Berwick won 16 points (88 shots) to Monbulk’s 2 points (82 shots).
John Prudon down by 9, Bob Bailey down 4, Mike Harper down 2, Bill Sale up 9.
Team 3 (Division 6) played at home to Heathmont 6.
Only 4 shots in it, but Heathmont won 16 points (98 shots) to Monbulk’s 2 points (94 shots).
Denise Nicholls up 14, Peter Francis down 4, Rino Gatto down 139, and Jimmy Wilson down by 1.
In the Tuesday Pennant, Monbulk Yellow lost on grass to Healesville Mauve by 31 shots.
Julie van Driel’s team was down 19 and Ann van der Hulst’s team down 12.
Monbulk Maroon lost by only 1 shot to Yarra Glen Purple.
Jenny Holme’s team were up 1, and Dot Donders team down 2.
