Teenagers to make a splash

HILLS teenagers will get the chance to make a splash or show off their skating skills at the first FReeZA events of the year.
Cardinia Shire Council will kick-start another year of fun and excitement with a BMX and skateboard competition at the PB Ronald Reserve in Pakenham on Wednesday 16 January, from 10am.
The competition will be set up in three age categories – under-13, under-16 and open, for those up to 25.
Shire youth service coordinator Emma Firth said the council would like to see people either enter or just come along and watch the competition.
Those looking to laze by the pool this summer will not miss out on the fun as the council gets ready to throw the pool party of the century at the newly reopened Pakenham Swimming Pool.
Young people aged 13 and over can enjoy an afternoon of fun there on Wednesday 23 January.
Ms Firth said that for $5, they could enjoy a swim as well as listening to some great local musicians.
The pool party will start at noon and run until 6pm and Ms Firth says it will be a great way to enjoy the school holidays.
Both events are fully supervised and drug, alcohol and smoke-free.
For information on either event call the youth services team on 1300 787 624.
