SINCE the release of former US Vice-President Al Gore’s wonderful film about climate change, Blessed Earth has seen an amazing increase in the demand for goods which are ethically produced, that is organic – produced without the use of chemicals, according to proprietor of the Selby store, Raithe Handiman.
“Organic is no longer an elitist concept; it is rapidly becoming the new normal,” Mr Handiman said.
“The idea that we have to honour nature, by working with it rather than seeking to imitate and control it, is becoming the mainstream understanding of what is the right thing to do.
“At this stage, it seems, commerce appears blind to the revolution that is taking place before our eyes. This may be only a temporary situation, as loss of revenue is a wonderful motivator,” he said.
“Expect to see all manner of ‘green’ products and services springing up in the coming months. It’s all good – let’s enjoy the ride back to normality.”
The Blessed Earth organic cotton store is at 125 Belgrave-Gembrook Road, Selby, Phone 1300 135 589.
