THE Tim Neville Arboretum is all set for a major upgrade, as residents are warned of possible inconvenience in coming weeks.
The boardwalk on the arboretum’s western lake will be upgraded and the existing boardwalk and gazebo will be removed shortly after Easter.
Dobson Ward councillor Karin Orpen said it was necessary to drain the lake.
“Whilst the lake is empty, council will clean the lake and assess the health of its walls,” she said.
“During these works, council advises park users to keep away from construction works. Part of the area will be fenced off, but there will be heavy machinery moving throughout the site.
“There may be some noise associated with this machinery and it is estimated that it will be on site for eight to 10 weeks.
“Also, the car park on Dorset Road will be temporarily closed to store the machinery and equipment and possibly stockpile lake silt,” she said.
Cr Orpen said wildlife in the lake would be protected and relocated by a licensed wildlife officer.
Council officers will be on hand to answer concerns on 9298 8125, or at citydevadmin@knox.vic.gov.au.
