Sherbrooke were in control of this game right from the opening tip-off as their full court defensive press caused Ringwood to turn the ball over on several occasions.
The Hawks never won any quarter on the scoreboard and could only manage 9 points in the all-important 3rd quarter as Sherbrooke piled on 17 points at a creditable 46 per cent from the field.
For Sherbrooke, Robyn Ladd notched up another game MVP with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Tara Blair with 16 pts, 6 rebounds and Rachael Fearon-Brown, 15 pts and 4 rebounds were also fine contributors for the Suns.
The women next take the court on 16 June at Monbulk, tip-off at 5.30pm, against the Whittlesea Pacers.
Youth League’s double header was a 1–1 split as they controlled the game against Werribee Devils on Saturday 108-94, but were overrun by the Bulleen Boomers 93-86 on Sunday.
Saturday’s game was decided virtually in the first quarter as Sherbrooke piled on 38 points to Werribee’s 16. The Devils slowly edged back into the game, only to see the Suns pull away again in a fast tempo last stanza.
For Sherbrooke, game MVP David Black with 32 points and 8 rebounds was dominant and he was supported by Matt Cromarty 21 pts, 4 rebounds and Mark Derksen 12 pts and 13 rebounds.
