THE eagerly awaited division four, bowls match of the round, between East Malvern (second) and Upwey – Tecoma (third) resulted in a complete domination by the home side to record a 68 shots whitewash at their opponents expense.
The win rocketed Upwey – Tecoma to the top of the ladder as top side Burwood were surprisingly defeated by lowly Ferntree Gully.
Changes to the make up of the teams plus the promotion of the in-form Frank Van Vloten by the selectors proved to be a winning move. Jeff Blastock swapped to Trevor Robertson skipped rink as lead bowler, played a “blinder” to totally dominate, whilst Van Vloten playing as third to Andrew Walters, showed the selectors were correct in their appraisal of his ability.
Tom Perry went on his winning way with another dominant display, as his team were never headed throughout the match.
The division six team journeyed to Glen Waverley and suffered a loss of just seven shots. Colin Benson had a good day to win by four shots and Ken Gray salvaged a draw when with his last bowl of the day, took the jack to win the final end.
