Billy’s

A GEMBROOK trader said the town plans to make the most of a new Puffing Billy service after its winter train service was shut down.
Puffing Billy Railway said in January that it was ending its train service to Gembrook during the winter.
At the time traders feared that Gembrook would become a ghost town.
The railway’s operators said they had been looking at better ways to utilise the rail line when it announced the Gembrook service would be closed down during the winter months except on weekends and public holidays.
The railway has now announced a new service from Gembrook to Emerald Lake Park called the Gembrook Rambler.
This will operate on weekends and public holidays and passengers can either start their trip at Gembrook or Emerald Lake Park.
The Gembrook Rambler also offers passengers who pre-book their tickets a discount card to be use in participating stores in Gembrook.
Loaded Pizza Café owner Andrea Failla said this was not exactly what the traders were hoping for, but said that they were happy that Puffing Billy was doing something.
