Truck drivers ticked off

A BORONIA blitz on ignorant truck drivers has seen more than 85 vehicles pulled over in the space of one month.
Restrictions on the passage of trucks on Albert Avenue and Millers Road in Boronia have been tightly policed by VicRoads Transport Safety Services officers in the past months, with many vehicles deemed to have entered the restricted zones without due cause.
Between 5 February and 5 March, 35 truck drivers were booked and a further 50 were issued warnings.
Knox’s Chandler Ward councillor Monique Davey said the restrictions “make it illegal for trucks to use (the area) unless they have specific works along these roads or have no other way of accessing a site off these roads.”
A full-day blitz by VicRoads officers on Monday, 26 February resulted in nine drivers being fined.
“Truck drivers who continue to ignore these signs will be caught,” Cr Davey said.
