LYSTERFIELD’S Chris Hill has continued on his merry way compiling 112 in the Beavers’ score of 232 in the FTGDCA Round 3 against Upwey at the Dome.
Matt Dempsey gave good support as Lysterfield posted a competitive score.
The Tigers were well served by Brendan Heath and Travis Richardson, and will want a good performance from their batsmen next week.
In a top table clash, Ferntree Gully has set Belgrave 196 at the Belgrave Recreation Reserve. Best of the Blues’ bats were Graham Salan (46) and youngster Ryan Handley (36). For the Magpies the reliable Nick Bole-Brown took 3 wickets.
Eildon Park has posted their second score in excess of 200 against Rowville. With a number of contributors the Panthers were best served by Aaron Powell and Shane Cosstick topping the list. Paul Evans returned figures of 5/66 off 25 overs. The return of paceman Todd Burley should bolster the Panthers bowling line-up.
At Kings Park, Upper Ferntree Gully made the top score of the round ending the day on 9/286 against Knoxfield. Peter Dalton (74) and Jay “Sticks” Colee (84) led the way for the Kings, while for the Knights, Trent Scholfield was the pick of the bowlers.
The Basin’s start to the season hasn’t been their best, being dismissed for 129 against Mountain Gate. With Adam Luckman making 64 for The Huntsman and Luke Bowyer taking seven wickets for the ‘Gators, this game will be decided by tea next week.
Johnson Park has made 191 at Fairpark against St Johns Tecoma on the back of Dulip Samaraweera’s 58. For the Saints, Marc Hardy took 4/73 off 39 overs and Adrian Picioli chipped in with three wickets. The Sharks will be looking to take the points in this game with tight bowling and the Saints will need to bat at their best to cause an upset against the undefeated Johnson Park.
In Decoite Shield, Footballers have blown their game apart dismissing Johnson Park for 58 and closing the day at 2/214. Seven wickets to Hart and Tahin and Gale at the crease having both posted 50s were the standouts.
Auravale look to have taken their first points against The Basin, Knoxfield (156) appear to have the upper hand against Upper Ferntree Gully (5/60). Monbulk have set Knox Gardens a target of 226 for victory. Ferntree Gully will chase 194 against South Belgrave and Lysterfield will be disappointed with their 112 against Upwey.
In other news, former Johnson Park fast bowler Steve Seymour will debut this week for the Victorian Second XI against Tasmania at the Junction oval.
