Tough season for juniors

SEASON 2007-08 is proving to be a tough one for Monbulk’s junior cricketers.
All three competitive sides were beaten on Saturday but not before some good cricket was played.
Having only 88 to defend the Under 17s bowled and fielded well but could not contain Upper Gully who finished on 9 for 163.
Luke Moulday and Brad Hilton both took two wickets.
It was a similar story at Eildon Park where the Under 13/1s had to contend with some very good batting by the top of the table home side.
Brodie Currie bowled brilliantly for just the one wicket and Daniel Carr took a terrific catch.
However, at 4 for 227 the Panthers easily accounted for Monbulk’s 2/141 (Carr 40 not out, Nick Keegan 29, Brodie Emmett 22).
Last week the Under 13/2s had a long morning in the field but bowled well to take 7 wickets against Mulgrave (Ewen Doonan 2/11, Callum Craigie 2/19).
On Saturday, it was Monbulk’s turn to bat.
While Mulgrave’s 212 was never under threat, the team concentrated hard to occupy the crease and did so until the 41st over. Dane Hartog-Burnett top scored with 15.
