UPWEY-TECOMA’S Chris Brown made the most of the hot conditions on Saturday, leading the U13/1 side to 9/184 from 50 overs against Monbulk.
Brown (52 not out) successfully mixed aggression with solid defence against a well-drilled bowling attack. Jayden Brown (27), Matthew Chapman (23) and Matthew Chambers (17) also ensured that the Tigers have a competitive total to defend on Saturday.
The U13 Black team posted 9/125 against South Belgrave. Keenan Hinton (19), Andrew Stanley (15) and Will Mutschler (14) made the major contributions. In an evenly poised match, South Belgrave is 3/47 in reply.
Not a great day for the U13 Gold team as they were dismissed for 45 against the very strong Ferntree Gully side. Tyson Brown (10) provided resistance but unfortunately fought a lone hand. Ferntree Gully has already secured first innings points as they were 5/80 at the close of play. Jackson Barnard was the best of the bowlers with 2/7.
R. M. Hatch representative, James Dobbie-Heyward continued his fine season top-scoring with 43 in the U15’s clash with The Basin. James found a willing partner in Jake Lynch (31) as the Tigers set The Basin a target of 174 for victory this Saturday.
