Fairytale power plays

– Tania Martin
HILLS rising stars fascinated audiences with stories of Peter Pan and the struggle for power in two school plays last week.
At Emerald Primary School, students took to the stage with their musical, Kings, which is about two kings fighting for power.
The story begins in Silage, the kingdom of the poor, old and smelly King Rufus, who is planning to overthrow King Humphrey from the neighbouring kingdom of Crystal Lakes.
But the story takes a bizarre twist when the two kings discover they are twin brothers who had been separated at birth and the battle lines are withdrawn.
Meanwhile at Mt Dandenong Primary School students drew their audience deep into the mysteries of Neverland. In a sequel to Peter Pan, the play called Hook Returns follows the characters of the popular fairytale as they attempt to save Neverland from destruction. The story begins when Peter Pan returns to London to find his childhood companion Wendy getting married and convinces her to have one last adventure.
But the adventure turns into a battle to save Neverland when the villainous Hook returns and captures Willow the fairy princess.
Peter Pan and his band of brothers then have to fight to save Willow and stop Hook from destroying Neverland. But in the end Hook is defeated and everything is returned to normal.
