Kick out of Baillieu visit

LIBERAL Leader Ted Baillieu showed his lighter side last week kicking a soccer ball with some Hills children during an electoral visit.
Mr Baillieu toured the Hills visiting the Cockatoo CFA brigade, Fernlea House, the Sherbrooke Ranges Junior Soccer Club in Menzies Creek and took a stroll down Kilvington Drive in Emerald.
Gembrook candidate Simon Wildes said Mr Baillieu stopped and talked to some of the local traders before heading to Fernlea House.
Helen Pike, Fernlea House nursing manager said the visit was an opportunity to tell Mr Baillieu all about the house and its history.
“We talked about the service we provide to the local community,” she said.
Ms Pike said it was great to have Mr Baillieu visit the house as it gave him the opportunity to see what it has to offer.
“He seemed very interested in what we are doing here,” she said.
Meanwhile, Mr Baillieu took some time out to kick a soccer ball with some Hills children at Menzies Creek when he visited the Sherbrooke Ranges Junior Soccer Club.
David Ceeney of the SRJSC said he was rapt to have Mr Baillieu visit and look at the issues facing the club.
The club is currently scratching to find playing surfaces as its membership increases.
“We were very pleased that he (Baillieu) came up to hear our ideas and have a kick around with the kids,” he said. Mr Ceeney said it was important for the club to drum up support where ever it can find it.
