THE Emerald golf course presented with good conditions but scoring seemed to cause quite a few problems and the CCR was set at 68.
Ross Martin, fresh from successive wins in pennant, played well enough to win the overall competition as well as the A Grade division. With the scant assistance of his 11 handicap he came in with 39 stableford points.
In B Grade, assisted by a playing partner leaving an unsigned card, Dennis Fuller fell over the line with 38 points while playing off 16.
In C Grade, evergreen Ken Sumsion, played to his 26 handicap to card and even 36 points. This gives him bragging rights in that division for at least a week.
Others to play well and not get to stand upon the winners’ rostrum, were, Mike Litchfield with 38 points and Rod Ward, Peter Clowes and Ian Scott, who managed 35 points. A special mention must be made of Ben Balfour who, fresh from his USA tour, forgot to sign his autograph on his card, which showed 39 points.
Nearest the pins was won by Brett Isherwood on the fourth, Mark Jasper on the 12th, Peter Clowes the 13th, and that star of the money holes, Mike Litchfield the pro pin on the 18th.
Next Saturday players will be competing in a Bisque par event.
