AN OLINDA resident has praised the work of a tree lopping service after its staff helped to clean up a tree that left her carport and car wrecked.
Annie Gummow said she was woken up shortly after 8am on Thursday, 9 March by the sound of cracking timber and crushed metal.
She then walked outside to find ‘absolute devastation’ and her car crushed by a 165-foot mountain ash tree branch that had broken and fallen onto her carport in Olinda-Monbulk Road.
Ms Gummow said waking up to the sound of a splintering tree was a nerve shattering experience.
She said Lop a Lot tree services was then engaged by her insurance company to assess the damage and assist with the removal of the tree and other debris.
Ms Gummow said Phil Gray from Lop a Lot and his crew including Mark, Cameron, Steve and Ric worked for 24 hours to remove the tree and debris.
“Throughout the whole ordeal they showed compassion and consideration and worked as a team with magnificent precision,” she said.
Ms Gummow said VicRoads road management officer Moritz Morando and Brendan Woods from Australia Transport Council (ATC) and his crew worked through the night and gave enormous support as the Olinda-Monbulk Road was closed for 24-hours.
“I would just like to thank everyone who was involved for their support and dedication,” she said.
