Care to make a difference

MEET the caring and professional team at Belgrave South Vet Clinic.
Dr Peter Van Orsouw is the principal veterinarian and has been practising for 23 years.
He might be big in stature but is a true softie at heart who, in James Herriot style, treats all creatures great and small.
The practice was started in 1988 in a small purpose-built building that managed to last 13 years.
In 2001 the practice moved into a beautiful big purpose-built hospital.
Other veterinarians at the clinic are Dr Jenelle Pattie who has been with the clinic for four years and has a soft spot for cats and Dr Alison Freeman who joined a short time ago and also works part time for the Animal Emergency Centre.
She is currently studying for her masters degree in small animal medicine and surgery.
Anita is the receptionist. She is the bright, bubbly voice you hear on the phone and the smiling face that greets you when you enter the clinic.
The nurses are Cathy, Shareen, Sarah, Kylie Anne and Lorraine.
Cathy has been with the practice for 18 years and has a wealth of nursing knowledge.
Shareen has come from the RSPCA and the Animal Emergency Centre and is very experienced in critical animal care.
She is also a Kintala qualified dog trainer.
Sarah has been with the clinic for four years and came on board as a trainee vet nurse, having worked in the retail pet industry for many years prior to this. She also has a wealth of information.
Kylie Anne started when she was a student and worked the Sunday shift. She now works during the week and has become a very dear member of the staff.
Lorraine, along with Cathy, runs the Puppy Pre-School and is a qualified Delta Canine Good Citizen Instructor and also runs private dog training for clients. Her passion is, of course, doggies.
The practice encourages continuing education for all staff to keep up to speed with all the latest developments and techniques in the veterinary field.
Naturally all the staff have a great love of animals and the care of these animals is what is important to them.
Located at 136 Belgrave Hallam Road, Belgrave South, the Belgrave South Vet Clinic is open seven days a week from 8am-8pm weekdays with consultations available on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Phone 9754 2316.
