ATTENDING a small house fire, extinguishing a car blaze and helping a truck driver with a heart condition was all part of the Mt Evelyn fire brigade’s busy week.
The fire brigade attended a small house fire in Mt Evelyn on Friday, 5 August.
Brigade Captain Ken Mitchell said the fire was caused by leaving an open fire unattended and that there was only minor smoke damage to the house.
The Mt Evelyn brigade’s busy week continued on Wednesday, 10 August, when members were called to assist a truck driver in Hereford Road who was suffering from a heart complaint.
Captain Mitchell said the truck driver had been pulled over to the side of the road for some time before the ambulance was alerted.
He said the brigade attended the scene to assist until the ambulance arrived and transported the driver to the hospital.
Finishing off a busy week, the Mt Evelyn brigade attended a car fire in Wray Crescent on Thursday morning shortly after 8.30.
Captain Mitchell said a fire started in the vehicle’s engine compartment but that the driver was able to pull over to the side of the road and get out of the vehicle unharmed.
