Last stage begins for township works

STAGE three of the Belgrave Streetscape Improvement Program has begun, with $330,000 of capital works funding to be spent on the township.
The final stage of the three-year program will aim to improve accessibility, provide a more pedestrian-oriented streetscape, increase public lighting levels and improve drainage.
Works are due to be completed in early June.
Lyster Ward councillor Samantha Dunn said works would include continued paving of the northern side of Burwood Highway.
“People can expect to see work going on from Terry’s Avenue right up to Safeway, as well as some activity in the laneway adjacent to the Telstra exchange, linking Alexanders carpark and the main street,” she said.
“The project will also see another fantastic feature lightpole installed at the bottom of the laneway across from the pharmacy and improved lighting and drainage in the laneway.”
Cr Dunn said that the streetscape works would bring the look and feel of Belgrave together.
Posters explaining the Stage Three works are on display at visible locations around Belgrave.
Martin Doyle from the Shire of Yarra Ranges Urban Design Unit can be contacted for more information on 9294 6487.
