SES outrage at car thefts

EMERALD emergency service volunteers returned to headquarters on Sunday night to find their cars had been broken into while they were assisting with a fatal accident.
SES volunteer, Leigh Johnson, said that a metal box containing a new chainsaw and equipment was stolen from one car.
Mr Johnson said the thieves allegedly rummaged through personal belongings and took whatever they could grab.
SES Volunteer, John Reed, whose car was broken into, said he was appalled beyond words.
“Why would they do this, when we were out there helping people in crisis,” Mr Reed said.
The volunteers have notified police of the incident, but have not yet made a formal complaint.
Two cars on the Monbulk Road were also broken into between 10pm on Sunday and 7am on Monday.
Police say that sunglasses, CDs and personal items were stolen.
