Tait is crowned zonal champion

THE zone 15 Champion of Champions event for lawn bowlers was played at Boronia this week.
After three gruelling days (5 matches) on the excellent greens at Boronia, Elva Tait representing Eastwood Golf Bowls Club came through as the singles champion of Zone 15.
Tait will now represent Hill Views DLBA and Eastwood Golf Bowls Club in Ballarat in March.
Meanwhile, Upwey-Tecoma’s Division 4 side travelled to Bennettswood last Saturday and came home with a big win which assured them of remaining on top of the division ladder and taking out the minor premiership.
With big wins to Trevor Robertson and Tom Perry, ably supported by Robin Southern and Andrew Walters, the win augurs well for their finals campaign in March.
Being given another chance in the higher division, Ron Abbot so impressed his skip by consistently setting up each end with bowls close to the jack. that his place in this side could now be permanent.
The team skipped by Tom Perry had another good day and Southern had a fluctuating scoreline game to eventually finish on top whilst Andrew Walters had another close one.
Results: Upwey-Tecoma d Bennettswood 118-74. Tom Perry 37-19, Trevor Robertson 36-13, Andrew Walters 20-15, Robin Southern 25-17.
