A racey contender

By Shaun Inguanzo
MITSUBISHI is primed to take the Australian large car market by storm with its new contender, the 380.
The Mitsubishi 380 has cost the company more than $600 million to design and produce as its replacement for the longserving Magna line of sedans.
Mitsubishi said the new sedan is a new design with enough sporty appeal, torque and power to match the needs of Australians, while remaining fuel efficient.
As the name implies, the 380 sports a powerful and racy 3.8 litre V6 engine.
The company says a large part of its development was focused on redefining large car agility, making the 380 a flatter, smoother ride around corners and in the harshest of Australian conditions.
The exterior has been reworked to give the 380 lineup an arresting appeal.
To cater for a variety of tastes, Mitsubishi has engineered both luxury and sporty exteriors.
The LS and LX models have grand appeal while the VRX’s agile appearance has it screaming to be driven.
The GT model combines the best of both, described as the ‘pinnacle’ of Mitsubishi’s 380 lineup.
The interior from the standard model up is loaded with style and features including Mitsubishi’s unique iceblue instrument panel, a fully integrated, six speaker audio system with MP3 playback, rear seat headrests, front and rear cupholders, a trip computer remote central locking, and a handy autooff headlamp control when parked.
Those who choose the GT model will even have a sunroof for ultimate luxury.
Standard safety features include ABS, brake assist and electronic brake distribution to help brake efficiently and smoothly, and both front and side driver and passenger airbags.
Mitsubishi has not yet released its pricing for the 380 series but has said it will be competitive with main rivals the Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon.
Lilydale Mitsubishi will be launching the 380 on Thursday, 13 October at a special function which everyone is invited to attend, from 2pm to 9pm, 56 Main Street, Lilydale.
Test drives and further inquiries can be arranged by calling Lilydale Mitsubishi on 9735 5800.
