POLICE fears were confirmed last week when a 29-year-old Belgrave resident was found to have hanged himself in bushland near his Kaola Street home.
Mark Jones was reported missing last Tuesday having left his home about 8am the previous morning without his mobile phone or wallet.
On Wednesday, Mr Jones’ body was found by a family friend who had decided to search for him in a bushland area where the pair often played as children.
Belgrave Police sergeant Andrew Herdman said that Mr Jones suffered from a psychiatric illness and depression and that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
In the wake of the recent deaths of Belgrave teenagers Jodie Gater and Stephanie Gestier, Sgt Herdman said families should maintain communication with at-risk loved ones. “If families have any concerns, we urge them to seek help,” he said.
