Olinda climbs to top

OLINDA’S top two teams are on top of the ladder after round six.
The first XI produced its fifth win of the season – an outstanding effort – and remains undefeated so far in 2005-06. A washout draw earlier in the season prevented Olinda’s firsts from winning all six matches.
After Wonga Park made 249 last week, Olinda made 294, which included a terrific inning from Adrian Willoughby, who made 78.
Brilliant all-rounder Mikel Greenough made 42, while one of the club’s best youngsters Cameron Eade chalked up 48 – his highest score yet in the frst XI.
Olinda’s seconds knocked off Croydon Ranges, who were first on the ladder, to reclaim top spot, after producing a strong win.
After posting 243 runs in the first week, Olinda bowled out Ranges for 178.
Jamie Beattie continued his stunning season with the ball taking 4/56, while Blake Swanson took 3/53 and Ian Begg got 2/28.
Matt Holloway also performed strongly with the gloves, taking four catches.
Olinda had 14 overs in its second innings, ending up at 2/40.
In the third XI, Olinda needed 172 runs for victory. It finished with a winning score of 183. Emerging bat Ryan Harris top scored with 36, while Jake Murphy made 29, Peter Dean (27 not out) and Tyson Heinrich (26).
Kilsyth’s score of 252 the previous week proved too much for the fourths, as Olinda was all out for 113.
Olinda’s fifth XI won outright, knocking over Croydon North for 47.
Left-arm veteran Kevin Brickley (4/17) was the standout with the ball, while talented youngster Dom Woodfield (2/9) and all-rounder Adam Gawronski (2/7) also finished with impressive figures. Craig Jennings made 30 runs in the second innings.
