Retirement village springs into action

A DAY of cakes, craft and wood work will spring Peppertree Hill Retirement Village into the fresh new season with its bi-annual Spring Fair event.
Organisers believe there will be something for everyone at the Spring Fair on Saturday, 7 October from 9am to 2pm, with a variety of stands providing a range of goods from cakes, wood work, craft and jewellery, to hand-painted ceramics, books and pre-loved goods.
For those wanting a bite to eat there will be plenty to choose from with a delicious sausage sizzle or a traditional Devonshire tea.
Village spokeswoman Judy Smith said all goods being sold at the fair were hand made and hand crafted by the residents at the village.
“The residents have done a wonderful job in organising the fair and I’m sure people will be very impressed by what’s on display.
“Some people may even make a start on their Christmas shopping, they are that good!” Ms Smith said.
Resident author Edel Wignell has decided to have her own bookstand where her award-winning children’s books will be available to buy.
“Edel has written over 90 books for children and her writing includes novels, non-fiction, picture stories, short stories, articles, scripts poetry and verse,” Ms Smith said.
Peppertree Hill, at 15 Fulham Road, Rowville, is one of 13 retirement villages across Australia managed by Retirement by Design
