PLANS to lobby the State Government have been highlighted in a forum to tackle crime.
Ferntree Gully MP Nick Wakeling said the Boronia Crime Forum, which was held on Tuesday last week, attracted a cross section of the community.
Mr Wakeling said participants at the Boronia West Primary School event were positive about tackling crime in the area.
“They said ‘we live in a great place and we want to make it better’,” he said.
He said more frontline police was identified as the highest priority and a number of participants had plans to form an action group to lobby the State Government. La Trobe MP Jason Wood said federal government funding for CCTV cameras was also high on the agenda.
Mr Wood said he was also pushing for the introduction of youth programs.
“Boronia’s a great area and it doesn’t take much to fix this,” he said.
