CLEMATIS pony rider Alysha Hart is hoping for a top podium finish at the 2007 Pony Club Association of Victoria National Championships in July.
Alysha, 18, is hoping to take out the senior dressage section at the championships.
She competed in the nationals two years ago and came 10th but is hoping for a top podium finish this year.
“Ideally I would like to come first but I can only do my best,” she said.
The Pony Club Association of Victoria (PCAV) National Championships are being held in Toowoomba, Queensland, from Sunday, 1 July to Sunday, 8 July.
Alysha, a veteran on the pony riding circuit, has shifted her focus from event riding to dressage.
She has been riding since the age of four and has spent many years competing in pony riding competitions.
But Alysha says this year she will be changing from event riding to the dressage competition because her horse Rimini Park Cassidy (Jack) was getting too old.
“I have retired him (Jack) from event riding because he is 24 and it was getting too much for him,” she said. “So I am training him for the dressage competition.”
Alysha says she will spend the next couple of months training Jack and perfecting their routine for the nationals.
