WITH 35 years’ dry cleaning experience, Michael Alexander of Belgrave Drycleaners is not only a great guy but runs an extremely efficient and successful business.
“I started in drycleaning at the age of 14 and excelled at being lunch boy and general dogsbody,” said Michael.
“I purchased my first business in East Bentleigh at 22 and operated successfully for 13 years.
“I bought a second business in Elsternwick and also operated this successfully for 11 years.
“Both shops offered complete customer service and quality drycleaning resulting in businesses that still operate today.”
As the new owner of Belgrave Drycleaners, Michael plans to continue with the successful business formula that won him Drycleaner of the Year (VIC) state award in 1994.
He has also contributed back into the industry by holding the position of executive committee member with Drycleaning Institute of Australia.
“The long term plan for Belgrave Drycleaners is to reinvent a level of excellence in quality and service to a community that has been dissatisfied in the past,” said Michael.
“I also plan to create a mindset with all the local traders supporting each other with the view to keeping Belgrave alive as a vibrant delightful town to work in and to create job satisfaction in knowing that a genuine and complete service that is desired by most, will be delivered accordingly.”
Michael is already implementing these changes. The shop is now open from early in the morning till late at night.
A sameday or onehour service is available during the week with a fast same day Saturday morning service.
“All drycleaning is completed on site to the highest standard with an emphasis on customer service and satisfaction,” said Michael.
“Systems are maintained to produce the cleanest results, enhancing colours and softness of fabrics whilst also removing dirt and everyday grime.
“Specialist stain removal uses recognised processes with a little elbow grease thrown in.
“When required, laundering some garments will also be done at no extra cost thus combining the best of both cleaning methods.
“This produces a great result and removes all those nasties that some drycleaners don’t bother about.”
Services offered at Belgrave Drycleaning are regular drycleaning of standard garments, a deluxe service for evening and formal wear, wedding and deb gowns, shirts laundered and pressed, a press only service and suede and leather cleaning.
A domestic laundry service covers tablecloths, bed linen, etc. and cleaning of household furnishings including doonas, underlays, blankets, bedspreads (sanitised and deodorised) curtains and drapes (take down and rehang), rugs and sheepskin car seat covers. A repair and alteration service is also available for new zips, hems and damaged items (tears, holes etc).
All this is delivered with a big smile and a hello.
