TWO hundred hills children are dancing to the beat of African drums as a part of a new music project.
Students from 10 schools across the hills are learning all about African music including how to drum, use percussion instruments and dance.
Vox Congo, a central African band, has joined the Dandenong Ranges Music Council (DRMC) in its Hillsong program.
The program, now in its 10th year, is focussing on teaching the students all about Congo music and dance.
Students from Mt Dandenong, Monbulk, Mt Evelyn, Upwey, The Patch and Boronia Heights will perform with Vox Congo on Friday, 15 June.
The concert will feature more than 220 students singing, dancing, and playing the drums with Vox Congo. DRMC music coordinator Bev McAllister said the concert would be a massive explosion of music and culture.
The concert will be held at the George Wood Performing Arts Centre, Kalinda Road, Ringwood, on Friday, 15 June at 7.30pm.
