SASSAFRAS-FERNY Creek CFA has received more than $4000 in Federal Government funding for multi-media equipment which will boost fire fighter training and community education.
La Trobe MP Jason Wood recently announced the funding which was part of the National Emergency Volunteer Support Fund.
Mr Wood last week presented the equipment purchased from the funding to the brigade.
Brigade Captain John Schauble said CFA brigades serving smaller communities like Sassafras-Ferny Creek were increasingly depending on grants and other sources of funds to purchase multi-media equipment.
“While our local community has been extremely generous over the years, finding additional money to purchase significant items of equipment is always a struggle,” he said. The fund, which is open to community organisations involved in all aspects of emergency and disaster management, is administered by Emergency Management Australia, part of the Attorney-General’s Department.
