YOUNG people and families in Cardinia Shire are invited to attend a festival where they can enjoy a fun-filled day of free entertainment, amusements and activities as part of National Youth Week 2008.
Cardinia Shire Council Youth Services is set to host the special event on Saturday, 12 April that will celebrate young people’s contribution to the wider community.
This not-to-be-missed event will be held at PB Ronald Reserve (Henry Street, Pakenham) from 10am until 4pm.
Cardinia Shire Council Youth Recreation Officer Leonie Olsen said the festival was an opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of local young people.
“It will be the biggest and best National Youth Week Festival that Cardinia Shire Council has hosted,” she said.
“The jam-packed day of excitement will kick off with a skate competition ($5 entry for participants) for young people, starting at 10am.
“Attendees will then be able to satisfy their hunger with a free sausage sizzle,” she said.
The festival will cater for a variety of interests with other activities including handball competitions, face painting, jewellery making and a great range of demonstrations from local community providers, as well as an art competition for budding artists.
The Services Central centre in Henry Street will be the gallery space for the National Youth Week Art Competition.
Council’s Youth Services Team encourages all young people, children and their families to attend this event.
