THE Monbulk electorate has received more than $19,000 in grants from the Parks and Reserve Trust Stewardship in Action Program.
The Ferny Creek Reserve Committee of Management will re-roof its hall with the grant of $17,143.
Kallista Mechanics Institute Committee of Management will also upgrade its hall with the $2209 received, using it for such work as repairs and external painting.
Committees of Management (CoMs) are appointed as caretakers of Crown Land Reserves and are made up of volunteers.
Only CoMs are eligible to receive grants from the Stewardship in Action Program, which works by funding improvements to facilities on reserves in small communities.
Monbulk MP James Merlino has praised the grants, saying that local halls and similar facilities are “an intrinsic part of the health and wellbeing of the community”.
