Ivy comes to the hills

ANYONE who has dined at the Ranges Cafe at some stage over the past 10 years will have had the pleasure of tasting talented chef Sally’s fantastic food.
Sally’s new venture The Ivy has opened in the heart of Olinda village.
Inspired by the famous Ivy restaurant in Los Angeles, the ambience is warm, inviting and elegant.
Imagine busy weekends on an open sun drenched balcony surrounded by a white picket fence (just like the Ivy in LA), coffee from Atomica, Brunswick Street, locally sourced cakes and biscuits and boutique wines from the wine list designed by Ross Wilson of Olinda Cellars, predominantly featuring wines from the Yarra Valley and many local and imported beers.
The building’s interior has undergone a transformation featuring warm reds and elegant creams.
You are sure to be delighted as you sip wine by the open fire or sit back and watch the world go by.
Dinner brings on a totally different mood with candlelight, soft music and crisp white linen cloths.
Patrons can lounge on the couches beside the fire in the company of friends and some great wines or dine alfresco in the clear mountain air.
The menu reflects both indulgent and simple, fresh options.
Light lunches include charred Atlantic salmon with basil and lime tapenade on asparagus with shaved parmesan.
Big breakfasts of creamy soft scrambled eggs with wood smoked salmon and creme fraiche are lovingly prepared.
The Ivy is at 540 Mt Dandenong Tourist Road, Olinda and is open from 8.30am seven days for breakfast, lunch and for dinner until late.
Functions, special occasions and corporate lunches are all catered for. Phone to book on 9751 2388.
(Mention this editorial when you next visit The Ivy and receive a complimentary glass of wine.)
