DANCE Week is celebrated each year across Australia in May with dance performances, workshops and free activities to encourage the community to participate in the pleasures of dance.
Coordinated by Ausdance, Dance Week started in Sydney 20 years ago and has grown substantially each year since then, particularly in recent times with the huge public interest in television shows such as So You Think You Can Dance.
This year, Dance Week is from 5-11 May and involves a host of professional dance companies, artists, school students and people of all ages joining in and enjoying this national celebration of dance.
Regional events held across the country are also an important part of Australian Dance Week.
Ausdance Victoria currently services the largest dance community in Australia.
