KALORAMA-MT Dandenong Fire Brigade has purchased a new bushfire response vehicle just in time for the upcoming fire season.
Captain Alex Felich said the brigade was able to buy the new Mitsubishi ML Series Triton with the help of money raised from community donations.
The bushfire response vehicle, also known as a slip-on, is used as the primary response unit by fire brigade strike teams.
Capt Felich said the new slip-on can carry up to 300 litres of water, has a diesel pump, a 2.8 metre suction hose and a stainless steel water tank.
“It is bigger inside, has a greater carrying capacity and is a lot more comfortable than our old slip-on,” he said. The brigade will now go into the summer bushfire season with its new slip-on which has also been equipped with a light bar, a state-of-the-art grill siren and navigation unit which were donated by Lilydale Mitsubishi and Fujitsu Ten-Eclipse.
Capt Felich said without the help of the community, the brigade wouldn’t have been able to buy the new slip-on.
